Actor-based model checking for Software-Defined Networks

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is a networking paradigm that has become increasingly popular in the last decade. The unprecedented control over global behaviour of network it provides opens range new opportunities for formal methods and much work appeared few years on providing bridges between SDN verification. This article advances this research line link traditional verification concurrent distributed software—actor-based modelling. We show how programs can be seamlessly modelled using actors, thus existing advanced model checking techniques developed actors directly applied to verify properties SDNs, including consistency flow tables, violation safety policies, forwarding loops. Our checker SDNs available through an online web interface, also actor-models number well-known benchmarks.
